Wanting to increase cultural awareness among students and to make travel affordable to all regardless of income, Gold Award Recipient, Hailey Pryor, started a student exchange program at her high school. She partnered the Sister Cities International in San Diego and her group visited San Diego’s Sister City in Alacala, Spain for two weeks. Students from Spain also stayed with Hailey’s group in San Diego for two weeks.
Hailey learned that fundraising is difficult and working with a large group of people, getting forms filled out and turned in on time takes a lot of patience. The friendships she made and saw form between her friends will last a lifetime.
